Landscape and Seascape
The top photos for this assignment were taken in New York (some in the rain) and the bottom photos were taken at my house. For this assignment, we took pictures of landscapes to capture different elements such as light, depth, distance and rule of thirds. I think my strongest photo is the top middle photograph, which was taken in my front yard at sunrise before I went to school. I took this horizontal photograph looking up toward the trees from my porch. A sense of foreground and back ground is created by the trees; there are bigger trees that create the foreground and smaller trees behind them that create the background. I thought the contrast between the tree branches and the sky was really interesting. The sky is light but the trees are almost black, as if they are silhouettes or shadows. I think this adds a dynamic feel to the photo that represents sunrise. The day is coming far in the background, but the darkness of night is still present in the foreground.
